Qualities of Teams • Paul speaks of the church as a body • Eph 4:16 from whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love
Qualities of “IT” Teams • Team members care for one another • Heb 10:24 and let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: • 1 Peter 4:10 as every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good steward of the manifold grace of God.
Qualities of “IT” Teams • Team members care for one another • Teams that don’t bond, can’t build • Teams that don’t build, can’t grow • Teams that don’t grow, are dying
Qualities of “IT” Teams • Team members know what is important • Neh 4:6 so built we the wall; and all the walk was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work • Phil 1:27 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel,
Qualities of “IT” Teams • Team members know what is important • A team fit requires an attitude of partnership • One non-contributor WILL prevent team success • One individual with a different agenda prevents team success Important to God Relationship Salvation - Spiritual Growth Important to the Church Salvation - Spiritual Growth Important to You? What Relationship?
Qualities of “IT” Teams • Team members value the mission • Phil 2:16-18 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither labored in vain. (17) yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all. (18) for the same cause also do ye joy, and rejoice with me.
Qualities of “IT” Teams • Team members value the mission • The individual must believe that the ministry they pursue is valuable • Their level of commitment is equal to the level of importance!
Qualities of “IT” Teams • Team members play a crucial role • Eph 4:16 from whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love
Qualities of “IT” Teams • Team members play a crucial role • For talents to be maximized, they must be exercised • The roles need to fit the goals • Example: do you teach to get through the lesson, or to present the gospel and disciple? • If no one seems to take your ministry seriously, it may because you don’t take it seriously
Qualities of “IT” Teams • Team members seek successors • 1 Tim 1:2 unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.
Qualities of “IT” Teams • Team members seek successors • Succession planning is not to cover for the “quitters” • Nor to allow current leaders a parachute to the pews • If we value the skills of our leaders, we want those skills passed along • Our ministries can only get as broad as the trained leaders we have to take those roles
