Direct Follicle Insertion (DFI) vs FUT

Be aware of the difference between Direct Follicle Insertion and FUT (Follicular Unit Transplant) before you go ahead! Both techniques have their pros and cons, and the choice of which one to use depends on several factors such as the patient's hair characteristics, the extent of hair loss, and the surgeon's expertise. 1. Direct Follicle Insertion (DFI) vs FUT

  2. DFI vs. FUT Extraction FUT is a highly surgical process where a strip of skin is cut from the back of head resulting in a long scar. This entire process is also quite painful. Using an implantation instrument, follicles are transplanted one by one directly into the region affected by male pattern baldness or alopecia.

  3. Direct Follicle Insertion (DFI) vs FUT Graft Handling In the FUT technique, grafts are removed one-by-one from the strip of skin with forceps and then put into a simple Petri dish, typically having no optimal holding solutions. At Evolved Clinics in Perth, we deploy platinum graft tissue preservation techniques (medical terminology for 100% graft survivability) through the use of chilled graft trays, ATP, Growth Factor Therapy and Hypothermosol.

  4. DFI vs. FUT Implantation FUT can compromise hair implantation design since the process uses scalpels or sharp-pointed tip tools to make slits, followed by forceps to place the follicles, which usually cannot give the proper angle, direction, or depth every time to insert the follicles. In DFI technique, each graft is carefully placed into an ultra-fine implanter and the hair transplant surgeon artistically inserts each graft at the correct angle, depth and direction.
