Maria Cornejo has been a fixture in the fashion world for over thirty years. Cornejo was born in Chile but moved to England where the early punk/rock and roll scene was quickly becoming the predominant cultural influence of its time. Cornejo and her boyfriend, designer John Richmond, studied fashion in London where they were immersed in the creative cross-currents of the burgeoning art, music and fashion worlds. Cornejo and Richmond would soon launch their own joint label, Richmond Cornejo, and sell to music visionaries such as Iggy Pop and Chrissie Hynde. Richmond Cornejo eventually closed its doors, but remains an important fashion label of the 1980s. In 1996, Maria met the famed fashion photographer Mark Borthwick in Paris. They moved to New York City together where Maria launched her own label “Maria Cornejo” and began a family with Borthwick.
Sourced wardrobe and accessory selection, propping and location scouting, all model casting and stylist/photographer booking. Created shoot schedule and organized transportation while maintaining a projected budget.
