Metaphor • A metaphor compares two UNLIKE things WITHOUT using like or as! • Examples: • He has a heart of stone. • He is the shinning star of our school. • Time is money. • On your homework paper, come up with two of your own metaphors to share with the class tomorrow.
Onomatopoeia • An onomatopoeia is a sound word! • Examples: • Bang • Pop • Zip • Pow • On your homework paper, come up with two onomatopoeia of your own to share with the class tomorrow.
Alliteration • Alliteration is when words all start with the same beginning sound (basically the opposite of rhyme.) • Examples: • She sells sea shells by the sea shore. • Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers. • On your homework paper, come up with an alliteration phrase to share with the class tomorrow.
