  2. Purpose of Planning of learning • Ensures all learners have a Personal Learning Plan (PLP) which clearly identifies the learners needs and shows how the outcome of the programme will be achieved • PLP is updated throughout the programme to reflect increasing levels of competence and progress

  3. Prior to visiting the learner • Contact the learner and workplace mentor to book Planning of Qualification visit • Review recruitment and initial assessment documentation • Review any certificates issued at Key Learner Process (KLP) 1 and 2 • Prepare timetables for group learning sessions available

  4. With the learner • Conduct Basic skills or initial assessment test • Reinforce the requirements of the programme including completion of Learning log • Discuss and complete PLP including skill scan • Discuss and agree short, medium and long term targets and record on PLP • Agree next activities for work place and directed learning setting target dates for completion on PLP and (Visit Progress Report) VPR

  5. With the Learner and Employer/Mentor • Explain details recorded on PLP • Discuss and record all employer led training to the PLP and agree dates for completion • Ensure Contractual Progress Review (CPR) schedule has a minimum of 3 dates • Complete proposed schedule for learning onto the PLP and Learning Assessment and Action Plan (LAAP) • Countersign and date PLP • From results of skill scan confirm if the learner is ready for assessment and agree LAAP

  6. Train to Gain • If learner is on Train to Gain (TtG) contract refer to Train to Gain user guide to check eligibility • Plan learning activities when completing skill scan to comply with funding requirements of TtG Contract • Complete ILR using TtG user guide • Determine and record funding rate for learner

  7. Remember • To review information gathered at KLP 1 and 2 • Use learners previous experience and achievements where possible • Plan short, medium and long term targets • Engage mentor to ensure agreed learning plan meets needs of the placement as well as learner • Follow KLP 3 • If TtG follow Train to Gain user guide
