Year 11 ICT coursework Use the following slides to help you complete your coursework Just move through each slide making sure you have complete each one When you have finished one slide, just go on to the next one Sometimes, it asks you to do a particular worksheet. That worksheet is in the shs folder (My computer Student files on Arwen (M) Bus and ICT shs work Make sure your name is on all your work before you print it and hand it in.
For this section: Your Powerpoint about different input & output devices including the section at the end on Printers, Monitors and scanners/digi cameras (Purple sheets in the top drawer of the teacher’s desk to help) If you have done this and it has been printed, named and handed in, move onto the next slide
For this section: Student website Analysis Look at three travel agents’ websites and answer questions about them. Use the worksheet ‘Student website analysis’ to help you.

For this section: Write-up of questionnaire results in Word as follows: Write up your Questionnaire Results in a report in Word called‘Questionnaire Analysis’: Explain why you did a questionnaire, what you were trying to find out and how many people you asked. Analyse each question one at a time and say what this means about your original plans e.g. I asked twenty people if they wanted music on the website but eighteen said ‘no’ and only two said ‘yes’, so I have decided not to put any music on the site. I asked twenty people about pictures. Three quarters of them said they liked lots of pictures so I will change my sketches to put on more pictures Put your name on it then print it and hand it in If you have done this and it has been printed, named and handed in, move onto the next slide
For this section: Questionnaire update, as follows: 1. Go back to your original pencil sketches and make any changes in a different colour as a results of your questionnaire feedback e.g. cross out the section on luxury holidays and write in red ‘people only wanted cheap holidays – luxury holidays not suitable’ 2. Only make those changes that are a result of your questionnaire 3. Do a note on the sketch to explain that the different colour part is after questionnaire feedback e.g. pencil = original plan; red pen = changes after questionnaire feedback If you have done this and it has been printed, named and handed in, move onto the next slide

For this section: Logos for website in Word Before you make your website, you need to design a logo for the company. It will probably include the company name or initials e.g. HSBC or JJB It might include a picture or symbol as well e.g. For a holiday company you might use a globe or a plane It could be sensible or light-hearted Start by making three completely different logos in Word for YOUR holiday company Look at the worksheet ‘Logos in Word’ for some help. Call it ‘Logos in Word’; put your name on and save it but don’t print it yet If you have done this and it has been printed, named and handed in, move onto the next slide

For this section: Compare Fireworks and Word for making logos Open the Worksheet ‘ Logos Software Evaluation’ You will need to have all your Word logos and your Fireworks logos open in front of you If you have done this and it has been printed, named and handed in, move onto the next slide
For this section: First draft of website Make the first page of your travel agent website in Publisher Make sure there are some MISTAKES in it e.g. a couple of spelling mistakes; pictures that are poor quality; make the font change in different passages of writing; have slightly different colours e.g. one passage of writing is medium blue and one passage is dark blue Put at least 6 or 8 small mistakes in it Print it off in black and white Write your name and ‘First draft’ across the top With a pen, circle all the mistakes If you have done this and it has been printed, named and handed in, move onto the next slide
For this section: Second draft of website Make all the pages of your travel agent website in Publisher Make sure you put something on the master page (View Master slide). Anything on the master slide will appear on every slide e.g. Company name or logo Make sure you put your company logo on that you designed Don’t put any deliberate mistakes in it at now and make sure you have taken out the mistakes from the first draft Print it off in black and white Write your name and ‘Second draft’ across the top With a pen, go over and either circle any errors or improvements that you can find or tick the page to show it is correct. If you have done this and it has been printed, named and handed in, move onto the next slide
For this section: Final draft of website Make the final version of the website Go through and make any final corrections/ finish off any sections Do NOT print from Publisher but run the webpage and take screenshots Paste the screen shots into Word Make sure the screen shots show all the website, one section after another so you can see everything in Word Print off the screen shots and write ‘Final Version’ across the top with your name and tick the pages to show they are correct. Hand in If you have done this and it has been printed, named and handed in, move onto the next slide
For this section: Uploading final website Call up the final version of your website Go to file and save as then give it a name with your name included e.g. Josh Warren Website And from the save as type box choose webpage (NOT single web page) Make sure you are still saving into my documents This will be sent to the examiner so make sure you put your name on the name If you have done this and it has been printed, named and handed in, move onto the next slide

For this section: Alternative methods of promotion You have decided to advertise your travel agent’s shop through a website. You could have advertised in other ways – local paper, TV etc. You have to look at the advantages and disadvantages of different forms of advertising. Make sure you say the Internet is the best at the end ! Open up the Worksheet ‘Alternative Methods of Promotion’ If you have done this and it has been printed, named and handed in, move onto the next slide
For this section: Technical Documentation 1 Now you have built your website, you have to produce a user guide explaining to people how to use it It will need to have lots of screen shots of the website in the webpage view (not the design view), explaining for instance... When you first open the website, this is the first thing you will see Down the left hand side, there are links to take you to different topics It has to be written clearly and accurately in simple English Use the Worksheet ‘User guide’ to help you If you have done this and it has been printed, named and handed in, move onto the next slide
For this section: Technical Documentation 2 • You have written a user guide for the customer. • Now write an instruction guide for the company showing them how you made the website and how they can update it if they wish. • There must be a first draft with mistakes in then a final version. • It will need to have lots of screen shots of the website in the design view, explaining for instance... • When you first open Microsoft Publisher, this is the first thing you will see • Down the left hand side, there are icons for different features such as clip art and word art • It has to be written clearly and accurately in simple English • Use the Worksheet ‘Instruction guide’ to help you If you have done this and it has been printed, named and handed in, move onto the next slide

Printed off the first draft Written ‘First draft’ across the top Gone over it with a pen to highlight the errors Done the guide again with errors removed Re-printed it in neat.
