Douglas StuartThe Preacher’s CommentaryEzekiel “An allegory is a specially composed fictional story that, while not literally true, is figuratively true in that it points directly to things that really did or will happen. It is a kind of comparison story in which the specific details have been changed from the true events it points to but which still captures the sense of the actual situation and events. Each major detail of an allegory corresponds to a fact of some sort in real life. The minor details have little significance other than helping the story move along.”
