Natural Resources/Economy • The eastern part of Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado are part of the Great Plains. • The nation’s largest coal reserves are found in Wyoming. • The mountains, lakes, and streams make this area a popular destination for hunting and fishing. • The mountains are a source of lumber and minerals. • Oil and naturalgas are produced throughout this regions. • Uranium, used to power nuclear power plants, is mined in Utah.

Fast Facts • Lake Mead is one of he largest human-made lake in the world. • Wyoming has the nation’s largest coal reserves. • Colorado is known for some of the world’s most famous ski resorts. • Great plains are grasslands that support large cattle ranches and farms • Nevada is the nation’s leading producer of gold and silver • Snake River Plain is a leading producer of potatoes. • Uranium, used at nuclear power plants is mined in Utah.
