Art as a Developing Factor: in the Renaissance • The Renaissance took place: (1350-1550) • During this time period: newer and livelier trends were developed in architecture, sculpture and music • This led to the development of multi-dimensional arts
Famous Names from the Renaissance • Niccolo Machiavelli: author of “The Prince” • Giotto: drew a perfect circle without compass • Leonardo da Vinci • Michelangelo • Titian
Leonardo da Vinci • (1452-1519) The creator of Mona Lisa, Madonna of the Rocks and The Last Supper • He was a paleontologist, inventor and evolutionary biologist • He was one of the best scientific minds of his Time • Carried out research and painstaking observations in Architecture, civil engineering, astronomy, anatomy, zoology, geography, geology and paleontology, aviation
Titian (1477-1576) famous venetian painter of religious paintings and was famous for using auburn color, in 1516 he was named the official painter of the Republic of Italy
Michelangelo • (1475-1564) He was an Italian sculptor painter, architect and poet. • One of the founders of the High Renaissance • One of the exponents of mannerism
Mannerism • 1580 (Italy)- 17th century(spread throughout Europe) • Was influenced by harmonious ideals and restrained naturalism (Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, and Michelangelo) • Noted for its intellectual sophistication and artificial qualities
Vernacular Literature • Latin=the language of scholars in the ‘middle ages’ • Dante, Petrarch and Boccaccio(the Three Crowns)= the great poets of this age • They produced immortal works that continue to influence writers today
Scientific and Technical Development • People accepted as true only what seemed logical • Came in contact with the Arabs and learned modern math and chemistry • Newton formulated the theory of Gravitation • Copernicus proved that the Earth revolved around the sun instead of the sun revolving around the Earth • Francis Bacon: slow and laborious observation was necessary before any general principles could be assumed

The Renaissance was the bridge from early and prehistoric art to modern art. Using ore vivid and vibrant colors and different styles of art to portray and symbolize religion and the European life-style the art of the Renaissance impacted and influence art around the world even to this day
