Why are we here? The time of the full moon is a time of celebration. We celebrate the energy of the SUN. The reason is that when the Moon is full it is the furthest from the Sun, thus the Sun’s energy is the strongest. Thus we celebrate the energy of the Sun through meditation and reflection.
All is Energy! For those of you who are not familiar with esoteric philosophy – or do not know it well – I will remind you that all is energy. Thus you should simply relax and try to feel the energy rather then concern yourself with understanding everything. During the lecture you can ask questions or make comments. After the meditation you may also ask questions.

What do we know about the Cardinal mode? Associated with starting things, initiating things or being “enterprising”. Capricorn projects in a practical, down to earth manner. It takes action based on practical need, and success.
What do we know about Earth? possessed and owned attainable organized and predictable
What else about Earth? cautious, premeditative, conventional and dependable builders
So what happens when we put the mode of cardinal together with the element of earth?
We get Capricorn! As the tenth sign of the zodiac, Capricorn represents the tenth stage in the evolution of man and his place in the universe. Having gained power and control through emotions and knowledge in Scorpio and Sagittarius, Capricorn seeks control by virtue of authority. All authority is given its control by rules and regulations which civilized society accepts and with which they must comply in order to progress. For all their concern with legality or the propriety of things, Capricorns can be guilty of making or enforcing rules they themselves do not follow. Blinded by their own ambition, and obsessed with their goals, they adopt the philosophy that the end justifies the means.
And More Capricorn Energy Wanting to be admired and respected, they do not want to appear weak or ineffective. This false pride makes it hard for them to admit when they are wrong or to ask others for help. Though they aggressively compete for what they want with apparent sureness, they harbor inner lack of confidence which makes them defensive. Viewing insecurity and fear as weaknesses, they attempt to hide such feelings, making it hard for others to get close to them. As children they have unusual maturity. They are in a hurry to participate in the adult world and often get along better with older children and adults than with their peers.
Capricorn By nature they are executives and managers. They aspire to positions of power and authority. Though they aggressively compete for what they want with apparent sureness, they harbor inner lack of confidence which makes them defensive. Capricorns are doers.
Before they take physical action, before they sort out their emotional involvement, and before they reason it out intellectually, they must ascertain what tangible advantages are to be gained from the experience. Capricorns react to what they experience by assessing its possible worth. They have a good sense of humor but will not tolerate being ridiculed or teased on a personal level.
Capricorn’s Astrological Symbol Capricorn is represented by a creature (Capricornus) that is half fish, half goat. Capricornus has been recognized as a goat since Babylonian and Chaldean times. Usually, it is depicted as a goat with a fish tail, which might relate to a story about the god Pan. Pan, fleeing a monster called Typhon, jumped into the river Nile. The part of him that was below water turned into a fish, while the rest of him above water, stayed as a goat.(This is the Greek version.)
Capricorn’s Astrological Glyph The glyph for Capricorn is a little more intricate than most. The V is thought to depict the goat’s beard; and the tail is that of a fish.
The Capricorn Myth Father Ea(or Oannes or Dagon)
Ea The mythology of Capricorn began even before the time of the Greeks. The seagoat is thought to be Ea, a mighty Babylonian god who lived in the ocean. He came out by day to watch the land, returning to the sea every night. Ea wore a cloak designed as a fish’s skin, complete with head and tail. One of his many names was “Antelope of the Seas”. A good description of a fish tailed goat? He is one of the world’s great culture initiates, who rose from the oceans to teach wisdom to land-dwelling man. Another description has Ea with his lower half that of a fish while his head and torso were that of a goat.
Ea (also known as “Oannes” or “Dagon”) “Ea” or “Oannes” or “Dagon” was a fish god who imparted great knowledge to the people. He taught them how to build cities. He also taught them math and geometric laws, and was credited with giving them all the knowledge that they would ever receive. At night, he would go back into the sea to spend the night, because he was amphibious. He had the head of a man; covered by the head of a fish, and had the legs and feet of a man and the torso of a man, but was covered by the scales and tail of a fish. -Berossus; from ancient fragment (Isaac Preston Cory)
As an aside The priests of Dagon wore the same mitre hat that was worn by “Cybele.” It looked like the open mouth of a fish - propped upon the priest’s head. DAGON is mentioned in the Bible in at least 8 places -Joshua 19:27 Judges 16:23 1Samuel 5:2,3,4,5,7 1Chronicles 10:10
How does this myth relate to the Capricorn characteristics? Capricorns tend to be profound thinkers. To them life is a serious business, and the need to be in control of it is paramount. They are seekers after knowledge and wisdom. Rational, logical and clearheaded, they have excellent concentration, and delight in all forms of debate.
Father Which sign represents Mother? Cancer And which sign is opposite of Cancer? Capricorn
Father means more than just Dad. You often find that the early life of the goat is heavily marked by a difficult or intense or highly complicated relationship with the father. It seems that only in adulthood does Capricorn realize that he or she must in some deep sense become Father himself or herself. Father What does Father mean to you? Many Capricorns are busy rebelling against the father during that time, or trying to live up to his expectations.

The Labours of Hercules • The Labours of Hercules is a book by Alice Bailey written in 1936 wherein Hercules needs to complete 12 tasks – one in each sign. • Each sign represents a different aspect of man’s development. • This the story of the individual Christ, crucified upon the cross of matter, and incarnated in each human being, God, incarnate in matter.
The Labour in Capricorn A vision appears before Hercules’ inner eye: he sees Prometheus in Hades, shackled to a rock and groaning as if his heart would break. A fierce vulture pecks continually at his liver, but his cries for help echo in vain in the desolation, to be swallowed up by the wind. Prometheus stole fire from heaven but, being immortal, cannot die from this punishment. Hercules is asked to rescue him from his plight.
Hercules completes his task Downward into the binding worlds of form and darkness Hercules travels, at last entering Hades and finding his way through labyrinthine paths to the king of the underworld who demands to know what a living mortal is doing in his realms. When he learns that Hercules seeks to free Prometheus, the king warns that the way is guarded by Cerberus, a monstrous dog with three great heads, each coiled about with serpents. If, however, he can conquer it with his bare hands, he may unbind Prometheus. The triple-headed dog, with its piercing bark, quickly attacks Hercules, and, grasping its primary throat, he holds it in his vice-like grip until its strength subsides. He then breaks Prometheus’ chains and sets him free.
Interpretation of the myth In the myth, Hercules descends into Hell in order to release light into the darkest regions of earth. In this we can see the lifting of humanity into a clearer awareness of spiritual reality as well as Christ’s descent into hell - “carrying release for those to be found there”. Paradoxically, Capricorn is predominantly associated with the mountaintop experience. At the foot of the mountain, the goat, the materialist finds nourishment in arid places. On the way up the mountain, the scapegoat searches for the flowers of attained desire, each with its own thorn of satiety and disillusionment. At the summit, the sacred goat beholds the vision and the initiate appears.
Further Interpretation In previous labours, Hercules’ tasks have been focused mainly upon individual development and liberation from the thraldom of matter but, from Capricorn onward, his work takes on a universal perspective, embracing the idea of service to the Whole, and culminating in the World Saviour in Pisces. He descends the mountaintop to join a needy humanity again, bringing them light and release.

We can view this as the energy of earth - cautious, premeditative, conventional and dependable - (Capricorn) on the level of the personality and water - impressionable and reflective - (Cancer) on the level of the emotions – looking at the elements. Both are cardinal signs which are associated with starting things.
Moon trine Jupiter indicates those who get away with a lot. They can talk themselves into or out of any situation. Surrounded by, perhaps even responsible for scandal or criminal activities, they may be the only one to escape the consequences. Wastefulness, laziness, exaggeration and taking too much for granted are all potential traits accorded to this aspect, but so are great talent, genius, spirituality, and a bent for politics.
