The direct and indirect object pronouns replace the objects in a sentence. ex: Did you see my red jacket? –No, I didn’t see it. Did Luke talk to his parents yesterday? –Yes, he talked to them

  2. Les pronomsobjets directs • The direct object pronoun replaces an object that receives the action of the verb without the means of a preposition. It is used for things and persons. ellemevoit (moi) elletevoit (toi) ellele/lavoit (le prof/la voiture) ellenousvoit (nous) ellevousvoit (vous) ellelesvoit (les enfants/les livres)

  3. Exemples • ex: Est-cequetuvoisma soeur? –Non, je ne lavois pas. • Je ne comprends pas qu’iln’aime pas les enfants. Moije les adore! The pronoun le may stand for an idea • Est-cequetu sais queUgo a quitté Jade? –Oui, je lesais.

  4. Les pronomsobjetsindirects • The indirect object pronoun lui/leur replaces an object that receives the action of the verb by means of a preposition. The indirect object pronoun replaces the entire prepositional phrase. It is used only for persons or pets. • ex: Est-cequetu vas téléphoneràtes parentsce week-end? –Oui, je vaisleurtéléphoner. • J’aidonnémon pull rouge à Sophie parcequ’illuiplaisait beaucoup.

  5. Objet pronouns placement • Object pronouns are always placed before the verb except in the affirmative imperative. With simple tenses like the present tense: SUBJECT COD/COI pronoun VERB NOUSLA (la télévision) REGARDONS With negation: NOUS NE LA REGARDONS PAS

  6. Objet pronouns placement • With a compound tense like the passé composé: SUBJECT COD/COI pronoun AUXILIARYPast participle NOUS LUI (ma soeur) AVONS DONNÉ LES CLÉS With negation: NOUS NE LUI AVONS PAS DONNÉ LES CLÉS.

  7. Objet pronouns placement • With a verb in the infinitive in the sentence: SUBJECT Conjugated verb COD/COI pronoun INFINITIVE JE VAIS LUI(Sophie) DIRE AMY PEUT LE (le ménage) FAIRE With negation: JE NE VAIS PAS LUI DIRE. AMY NE PEUT PAS LE FAIRE
