Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School What: Moral leadership training for Survival Evasion Rescue & Escape (SERE) High Risk Level C classes When: Day 12 of the 19-day course Where: Camp Mackall, NC Why: Encourage the students just before beginning an arduous six-day FTX Summary: The Battalion Chaplain engages each class of up to 100 students and discusses the importance of finding purpose amid suffering, the impact of a contagiously hopeful attitude, and the power of sharing one another’s burdens in developing teamwork. The three topics are illustrated using stories from Viktor Frankl’s book Man’s Search for Meaning (1946), the legacy of the late Medal of Honor recipient CH (CPT) Emil Kapaun, and the words of Paul recorded in Romans 12:9-12 respectively.
