  2. CATALOGS • FOXTRAX • George Fox University’s online catalog • When using a catalog, start with this one! • SUMMIT • Orbis-Cascade Alliance’s online catalog • Use this when you cannot find the book that you want in Foxtrax

  4. FOXTRAX • FIND: • BOOKS • Search by title • Search by keyword • Search by author • Search by subject

  5. TITLE SEARCH IMPORTANT! You must enter the titleor the first part of the titleexactly for this search to work. Examples: “Database nation the death of privacy in the 21st century” OR “Database nation”

  6. KEYWORD SEARCH This is the broadest, easiest index to search. Enter one or more keywords to get started. Examples: landscape architecture food science nanotechnology

  7. AUTHOR SEARCH Enter the last name followed by a first name or initial: Examples: fox, g fox g fox george OR fox, george

  8. SUBJECT SEARCH In order to search by subject you will need to use the “subject headings” that have been assigned to the materials. Ask a librarian to show you how!

  9. FOXTRAX Through Foxtrax you can also search for: • JOURNAL TITLES • But NOT Journal Articles!

  10. JOURNAL SEARCH Once you access the “Journals” search page you need to select one of the following: “Title begins with” “Title equals” “Title contains all words”

  11. JOURNALS CONTINUED… Once you have made your selection put in the word or words to the title accordingly. Examples: If you search “archaeology” “title contains all words”, you will get all of the titles that contain the word “archaeology”. If you search “archaeology” “title equals”, you will get the one journal that is titled “Archaeology”.

  12. Examples continued… Example: If you search “archaeology” “title begins with”, you will get all of the titles that begin with the word “archaeology”.

  13. FOXTRAX Through Foxtrax you can also search for your COURSE RESERVES • Search by: • Course • Instructor’s name

  14. Now let’s switch gears and look at SUMMIT

  15. SUMMIT This online catalog contains all of the materials that are owned by most of the academic libraries in the Northwest. REMINDER: If you can’t find what you need in FOXTRAX then go ahead and search the SUMMIT catalog.

  16. SUMMIT You can search by: Author Title Keyword Subject
