  2. Why Talk About Bullying? Bullying • Is encountered by the majority of students. • Can cause serious harm to its victims. • Can be stopped.

  3. What Is Bullying? Bullying is any behavior that is • Deliberate and hurtful • Repeated over time • Trying to have power over someone Bullying can • Be physical, verbal, emotional, social, behavioral, or any combination. • Occur on the bus, at school, at after-school activities, and even online via the Internet.

  4. Examples of Bullying • Hitting or kicking • Stealing or damaging belongings • Repeated name-calling • Teasing and taunting (i.e. Checking) • Spreading rumors • Intimidation • Intentional exclusion from the group • Cyberbullying (Facebook, Myspace, & Twitter)

  5. What Is Cyberbullying? Cyberbullyingis the use of electronic communications such as the Internet to harass, threaten, and harm others. This can also include texting.

  6. What is the Difference Between Bullying and Good-Natured Joking? Bullying • Is intentionally hurtful. • Happens repeatedly.

  7. What to Do if You Are Being Bullied or Seeing Someone Being Bullied Stop • Don’t Get Mad or Fight Back. Ignore the Bully & Walk Away. Block • Report Internet Bullying (i.e. Facebook) and Block the User. Tell • Tell a Trusted Adult.

  8. What Can You Do? Bullying reporting • Reporting boxes in the Main office, Library, & Guidance office. Include • Who’s the bully, who’s being bullied, where the bullying is taking place, and what the bully is doing.

  9. Consequences • Warning • Parent Teacher Conference • Suspension

  10. All Reports of Bullying Will Be Taken Seriously Snitching Puts a Halt to Bullying Assault It’s NOT Snitching if you KEEP SOMEONE FROM BEING HURT.
