Amy MarchoEDIM 508“Weather….or not” The purpose of this presentation is to help assist our students in the understanding of what weather is, how it occurs, where it occurs and how it is formed. This presentation is to be used as a resource for our students; helping students identify clouds, precipitation, making weather predictions and weather patterns.
Standards • Science and Technology > Academic Standards > 3.5.7.C.3 - Identify how cloud types, wind directions and barometric pressure changes are associated with weather patterns in different regions of the country. • Grade(s) 3-5, 6-8 • Science and Technology > Academic Standards > 3.5.7.C.4 - Explain and illustrate the processes of cloud formation and precipitation. • Grade(s) 3-5, 6-8 • Science and Technology > Academic Standards > 3.5.7.C.5 - Describe and illustrate the major layers of the earth's atmosphere. • Grade(s) 3-5, 6-8 • Science and Technology > Academic Standards > 3.5.7.C.6 - Identify different air masses and global wind patterns and how they relate to the weather patterns in different regions of the U.S. • Grade(s) 3-5, 6-8 • Science and Technology > Academic Standards > 3.5.7.D.1 - Explain the water cycle using the processes of evaporation and condensation. • Grade(s) 3-5, 6-8 • Science and Technology > Academic Standards > 3.5.7.D.2 - Describe factors that affect evaporation and condensation. • Grade(s) 3-5, 6-8 • Environment and Ecology > Academic Standards > 4.1.A.1 - Explain the water cycle. • Grade(s) 3-5, 6-8 • Environment and Ecology > Academic Standards > 4.1.A.2 - Explain the water cycle as it relates to a watershed. • Grade(s) 3-5, 6-8 • Environment and Ecology > Academic Standards > 4.4.C.1 - Analyze the needs of plants and animals as they relate to climate and soil conditions. • Grade(s) 3-5, 6-8 • Environment and Ecology > Academic Standards > 4.8.B.3 - Explain how climate and extreme weather events (e.g., drought, flood) influence people's lives. • Grade(s) 3-5, 6-8
Identify… • Types of clouds • Precipitation that correlates with specific clouds • Make sure to take some notes during the video so you can take the quiz at the end!
