Pubic Lice • Pubic lice, otherwise known as crabs, are tiny parasite that live in the genital area. • The crabs bury themselves in the skin and feed off of the blood of humans very much like head lice. • They lay their eggs on the pubic hair of the person. • They are yellow clumps, but they are very hard to see.
Ways to Get Pubic Lice You can get pubic lice by: • Sexual Contact • Infested bed sheets • Sharing clothes, towels, etc.
Symptoms of Pubic Lice Symptoms of pubic lice is: • Intense Itching • Tiny tan/grayish white insects can be seen • Tiny yellowish-white oval blobs cling to pubic hair • Hives in the genital area • Black specks on underwear can be seen
Treatment of Pubic Lice • It’s unusual to create any serious health problems, but the itching can be very uncomfortable and is very easy to transmit to others. • To treat the pubic lice, you will need to go to a doctor or gynecologist right away so it can not be spread. • Over the counter medicine and in some cases a prescription from your medical physician would be the only way to treat it. • You will also need to clean all of your infested items like clothes, towels, bedding, etc. with hot water.
