About Advertising Spyware • Advertising spyware is a software installed on a computer without the computer owner’s knowledge or permission. • This software also gather’s information about the user, such as passwords, email, addresses, web browsing habits, online purchasing habits, the computer’s hardware and software configuration and a lot more personal info about the user. • The good part about this is that you could download software that will scan and remove spyware form your computer, some examples are: Adaware, (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/)spybot http://security .kolla .de/)

Online Purchases and Encryption • If you put your credit card information on the internet it will travel through many other computers before it reaches its destination. • To prevent people form viewing or getting into your credit account you could do this by encrypting it in a secret code. • Encryption basically converts your text into gibberish. • If you would like to do this you could use a free software called PGP(PRIVACY GOOD PRIVACY)

About Web Tracking • Web Tracking is when a website keep track of all the things you do on a computer. • When visiting a website they put a small text known as a cookie on your computer. • The cookies determine how much you have visited that website, and it lets them know everything from the date to the time you last visited the site.
