CREDIT HISTORY/DIPLOMA REQUIREMENTS • Check your credit history /requirements on the course selection website (English only). • Should have 24 credits by June. • Check to see how many compulsory credits you still need. Look carefully at the additional credits required (3 categories). • Community service complete and submitted • Literacy test /course
LEARN ABOUT COURSES • Read short descriptions of courses by clicking on blue course code on online screen or in “Chart Your Course”. • Ensure you have the course prerequisite. • Talk to the teachers in that subject area. • Talk to your parents and friends about their experiences but honor your strengths and interests! • New courses : Health care package, TER3M–/TER4M Robotics, HZB3M Philosophy, HSB4U Society, HNB4M0 Fashion, HPD4C0 Parenting
SPECIALIST HIGH SKILLS MAJOR • Consider a Specialist High Skills Major in hospitality or construction – H codes! • You take a concentration of these courses in the subject area and Coop! • You get a RED SEAL on your graduation diploma if you complete all the required courses. • For more information, set up a meeting with your counselor.
INCOMPLETE COURSES • Attend summer school to do make-up credits(Sign up online mid-April!) • If you get 40% or higher in a course= 2 week summer make-up in July. • If you score below 40%, one full month summer course. • Summer coop is a great option to earn 2 credits in the summer! Apply soon!
Consider the IDC course packages in your interest areas List of Packages with descriptions include; Gr.12 1. COOP - (work) – 4 credits 2. STAR – Recreation Leadership– 4 credits 3. Hospitality – 2 or 4 credits Gr. 11 – Health Care- 2 credits-NEW (SNC4M & TPJ3MO), ACES, Childcare, Construction, & Freedom Writers, Hospitality.

UNIVERSITY/BACHELOR DEGREE • Need 6 Grade 12 M or U courses to attend university (min.70% average) • Colleges may accept a minimum of 65% average for some 4 yr programs. • Go to electronicinfo.ca! See admission requirements! (required vs. recommended) • Be sure to check non-academic requirements i.e. portfolio, CPR, volunteer work etc.
COLLEGE DIPLOMA PROGRAMS College diplomas (2-3 years) • Colleges require Grade 12 College English (min. of 60%) and several senior courses (Grade 11 & 12) at the college level. • Go to ontariocolleges.ca, program keyword and go to the W page on the website.
COURSE SELECTION WEBSITE • Go to www.fmss.ca • Click on Student Services (top of screen) • Click on Course Selection (left) • Click on the pencil (scroll to bottom of screen) • Login. If your password does not work, ask your teacher to reset it, or see your counselor. • To restart , use your birth date (YYMMDD) as the password and change it immediately.
DEADLINE TO SELECT COURSES • You must select your courses on-line by Thursday, Feb. 21. After that date, all changes must go through a counselor. • You can have a study period each semester but plan on using it wisely or take another course of interest! • Securing courses is first come first serve basis!
Students must print off your choices, have a parent sign, and hand it to your homeformteacher.
COURSE SELECTION FOR GRADE 12 • Do it promptly. • Do it realistically. • Do your research. • If you must make changes, do it before the end of the school year! • Good luck!
