  2. Textile materials for motorcycleusearemainlypolyamide (nylon) or polyester. The smallestcomponent is the filament, spunto a thread and thenused in the weaving process. The weaveusually has no stretch. Lycra, a stretch fibre, can be mixed into the weave, but the fibreinfluences the strength. The seam design and itsthreadhave less importance, because the material is worn down before the thread. The melting point for these materials lies around 240º- 260º C. Frictional heat after a fall will, in cases, exceed these temperatures, depending on the underlying surface.

  3. Aramide fibres (Kevlar), heat resistant up to 500º, should be used in a high concentration (90-100% content) to be effective. It is important to have the right size, to allow the protectorstheir proper position. The customershould try the ridingequipmenttogether with whathe/sheusuallywearsunderneath. Most textile clothescan be washed at 40°. Remember to remove the protectors. No rinsingproductsshall be used with functionalmembranes. The garmentscan be ironed after washing, to activate the impregnation. Washingtemperaturesshould be checkedagainst the information on the label. Textile materials aremostlydyed in baths. The thread, too, can be dyed. Embossedpatternsaremostlydone on polyesters. Textilegarmentsaremoresuddletouse and easiertomaintain. Textilegarmentsshould be impregnatedaftereverythirdwashingtokeepmoistureout and dryquicker.
