Educator Evaluation and Support System Model Refinements 2015-16 School Year

This document outlines the goals, scoring approach, and system weights for refining the educator evaluation and support system for the 2015-16 school year in Rhode Island. The refinements include making the scoring approach more transparent, putting greater emphasis on professional practice, reducing the weight of student learning, and placing more value on the Professional Growth Goal. Feedback from evaluators and teachers led to these refinements, including the use of a points system and scoring bands to determine the Final Effectiveness Rating. Additionally, the document highlights specific refinements in the area of professional responsibilities, including the use of rubrics with 4 levels and an additional component for scoring the Professional Growth Goal.
