Circle of Excellence Award • COE is awarded to an organization based on the following: Consistency, Integrity, Responsibility, Commitment, Leadership, and Excellence performed in the domain of Sustainability” • Sustainability primary focus for the COE Award covers recognition for stakeholder value, ecological environmental and social contribution.

  3. COE Award History & Criteria • Award was initiated by DBM in 1997. • COE Criteria was developed by Dr. Omar Keith Helferich through Michigan State University and Central Michigan University with DBM and other universities assistance. • Criteria require documentation of sustainability-environmental and social responsibility program success, with evidence on ongoing programs supported by the CEO level, plus plans for program continuation. • Criteria covers programs for cost reduction, risk control, revenue growth, and intangible stakeholder benefits.

  4. BuildingSustainability Recognition • COE Award presented through the DBM selection and awards recognition process • Formal Press release process with the selected COE corporation providing inputs to the target releases • Article written for DBM Journal plus assistance of writing one other journal article if requested by the selected COE corporation • COE award winning corporation has the choice of additional recognition through internal corporate and/or external publications
