Chen Boon Tai, PhD Dr. Chen has been actively involved in mixed use real estate development, including several Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects, in his 30+ years career. Having been part of the pioneering team 17 years ago of the highly successful Mid Valley City development between Kuala Lumpur City Hall and Mid Valley City Sdn Bhd (a member of the IGB Group of Companies) as a PPP, Dr Chen is now its Director of Project Development. Though qualified as a Professional Civil Engineer, Dr Chen has moved on to a career with wide business and management expertise. Dr. Chen’s forte is in planning and he is an astute observer of trends and events. In addition to being a corporate man, Dr Chen is also an entrepreneur; having completed a mixed use development in Kuala Lumpur in the 90s with his personal associates. Dr Chen earned an honours degree in Civil Engineering from the premier University of Malaya, a Graduate Diploma in Business and Management from SEGI University College, a MBA from the industry-driven University of The Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia and a PhD in Business Administration from the Tarlac State University, a 106-years old institution designated as a Centre of Excellence in the Philippines. Dr Chen now divides his time between teaching at the Malaysia University of Science and Technology as an Industry Professor of Management and completing the last phase of the mammoth Mid Valley City development.
