  2. Success for Boys Programme The purpose of the Professional Learning Programme is to provide teachers and schools across Australia with strategies to improve the ways teachers work with boys at risk of disengaging from school.

  3. Success for Boys Programme: AIMS The programme aims to: • provide teachers with a conceptual framework for approaching boys' education

  4. Success for Boys Programme: AIMS • develop teachers' key foundation knowledge and understanding of concepts in boys' education

  5. Success for Boys ProgrammeAIMS • give schools strategies to address whole of school planning, to change management, and to conduct well-executed action research in classrooms

  6. Success for Boys ProgrammeAIMS • provide teachers with readings, workshop activities, practical strategies, case studies and resources aimed at improving boys' learning outcomes and engagement

  7. Success for Boys ProgrammeAIMS • enable teachers across Australia to benefit from the experience and research of national and international boys' education projects, such as the Australian Government's successful Boys' Education Lighthouse Schools programme, and the large-scale Raising Boys' Achievement initiative in Britain.

  8. Success for Boys ProgrammeOVERVIEW The programme comprises of five modules that focus on key intervention areas highlighted by teachers and researchers as significant for boys, and a resources to facilitate delivery of the modules.

  9. Success for Boys ProgrammeMODULES • Leaders' Guide that provides assistance in how trainers can deliver the programme within a school • Core Module that provides teachers with a theoretical framework for working with boys, and an action learning plan that underpins four additional modules:

Success for Boys ProgrammeMODULES • Boys and Literacy Module that aims to promote effective literacy teaching and assessment for boys • Mentoring for Success Module that focuses on giving boys opportunities to benefit from positive mentoring relationships and access to positive male role models from within and beyond the school

Success for Boys ProgrammeMODULES • Boys and ICT Module that aims to enhance teachers' use of information and communication technology (ICT) to improve boys' engagement and learning outcomes • Indigenous Boys' Transitions Module that focuses on the important area of Indigenous boys' transitions from primary to secondary school
