Introduction to Web 2.0 App • Examples: • Twitter • Gmail • Prezi • Windows Live • Skype
Cassie’s Reactions • When I showed her how to sign up, she felt like it was very easy to do, because there aren’t excessive fields to fill out when registering an account • She really liked the simplicity of the phone call process, with only a few key buttons on the screen, not to confuse people • Thought it was neat that we’re that advanced enough to be able to screen share with another person, which is majorly beneficial to college students wanting to help with homework
Comparisons to other connection software: Facetime • Facetime connections tend to be slower • Connections must be made through Wi-Fi • No typing option • Only be done off of Apple products
Other usages of Skype: • “Skype music lessons allow students the opportunity to enjoy traditional lessons without the hassle of travel. Online music lessons are truly for the convenience and benefit of the student” (Leahy). • “Pilbara residents can now access specialist medical treatment via Skype, potentially saving them weeks of waiting and thousands of dollars in travel and accommodation expenses” (Roose).
