dual credit information • See handout with classes available. • For each college, student will need to apply to the college and then register for the class. • ALL Early College and online courses continue on the university schedule. • Students must continue with work during our fall break, spring break and on snow days. • Students are required to communicate with the professor any concerns or problems. We have no access to their grades, progress, issues, etc. • Parents can only call the college if the student has given permission.
Dual credit Continued… • If a student decides to drop a college course, he/she will receive the college grade on his/her high school transcript at the time of the drop. • Students will only be allowed 7 credits per year on his/her transcript. The student should let guidance know which dual credit course to add to high school transcript if he/she takes more than 7 courses in a school year.
Decisions to make… • Students should check the general education credits at his/her college before selecting numerous online/dual credit courses. For example a college may require only 3 hours of “Humanities” and the student may have taken 2 online courses in the category of Humanities. He/she would have an extra 3 hour credit course which would be considered an elective. • Parents and students should decide what is best for the student. While dual credit courses are taken at a significant reduction in price, some students may have enough FAFSA money to pay for tuition or they may get enough scholarship money to pay for all tuition. If this is the case, the student may have benefited more if he/she waited until college to take the courses.
