NAEP 2019 • Thank you to 750+ FL schools that participated in spring 2019. • 2019 marks NAEP’s 50th year! NAEP has been measuring what our nation's students know and can do since 1969. • NAEP 2019 results are expected to be released this fall.
NAEP at a Glance • National Assessment of Educational Progress, also known as The Nation’s Report Card • Largest nationally representative and continuing assessment of what America's students know and can do • Measures student achievement across the nation in major subject areas • Administered by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) within the U.S. Department of Education https://www.nationsreportcard.gov/

NAEP 2019-2020 Long-Term Trend (LTT) • Age-based rather than grade-based • Administered via paper and pencil
NAEP 2019-2020 LTT National Sample • Age 9: 430 schools, 14,400 students • Age 13: 440 schools, 14,400 students • Age 17: 490 schools, 14,400 students Grand total: 1,360schools, 43,200 students
NAEP Field Staff • Provide support and reduce the burden for participating schools throughout the assessment process • Bring all necessary materials/equipment • Administer the assessments

NAEP Survey Questionnaires NAEP survey questionnaires provide important information that helps to better understand the context in which students learn. MyNAEP for Schools Website • Primary resource and action center for participating NAEP schools • Virtual checklist of all activities that school coordinators need to complete throughout the assessment process • Task links are listed in the order they will be completed.
District Assessment Coordinator Responsibilities • Ensure that schools receive NAEP folders and all subsequent email communications • Submit age-based student enrollments for participating NAEP schools • Excel list must be submitted to FDOE ShareFile by: • 9/12 (age 13) • 11/8 (age 9) • 1/17 (age 17) *must be January 2020 enrollment* • File template will be provided • Encourage schools and students to fully participate in NAEP (including make-up administrations)
Why NAEP Participation Matters • NAEP is able to provide valuable information on student performance, thanks to the participation of selected schools and students. • NAEP data helps to inform national and state education policy for current and future students. • NAEP is the only assessment that measures student progress across states.
NAEP Participation in Florida • Florida Statute 1008.22(2) requires Florida districts and schools to participate in NAEP and international assessments. • All selected students should participate. • The only students who may be excluded: • Students with disabilities (SD) who participate in the Florida Standards Alternate Assessment • English Language Learners (ELL) who have been enrolled in U.S. schools for less than 1 full academic year • Students whose parents notify the school in writing that they will not participate
NAEP Professional Development • 25 hours professional development/ inservice credit available for NAEP school coordinators • 10 hours professional development/ inservicecredit available for district coordinators • FDOE provides to districts for issue if inservice plans allow • An effort to thank, as well as incentivize, district and school coordinators for time and effort coordinating NAEP • Certificates to be issued after the final 2019-2020 LTT assessment window
International Assessment Updates • No international assessment administrations currently scheduled for FL in 2019-2020 • International Computer and Information Literacy Study (ICILS) 2018 Results: November 5, 2019 • Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2018 Results: December 3, 2019 • International Early Learning Study (IELS) 2018 Results: February 2020 • Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) 2019 Results: November 2020
