Overview of ATCUAE • Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE (ATCUAE) • Established in 1965 • Governing body of all motorsport in the United Arab Emirates • Affiliated to the FIA, CIK and FIM. • President, Mohammed Ben Sulayem
Achievements of the ATCUAE Young ASN, made great progress over a short amount of time, including: • Sporting organisers of several world championship events, including F1 GP and Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge • The successful nomination of an Emirati to the FIA Institute Young Driver Excellence Academy, • The recognition of one of our volunteer marshals as the 2011 FIA Volunteer of the Year. • Established the UAE Motorsport Marshals Club • 1000 volunteers, 64 different nationalities

The Motorsport Knowledge Institute (MKI) • ATCUAE achieved Gold level accreditation against the FIA Institute’s Best Practice Framework, then appointed as one of 4 Regional Training Providers. • MKI established in late 2011 as the new dedicated training and education division of the organisation. • MKI has strong relationships with several academic bodies in the UAE, USA and Europe, notably the University of Ulster in the UK.
The MKI Approach • All MKI projects are developed in line with the FIA Institutes Best Practice Framework. • Developed rapidly, suitably qualified to assist other emerging ASNs in making the same advances. • Eager to partner with ASNs of all sizes and stages of development. • Each project will be specifically catered to the needs of the partner.
Work closely with our partners at each stage of the project, starting with the initial plan and application. • Three pillars of the Motorsport Knowledge Institute are: • Training • Education • Research • MKI can offer a range of services across these three disciplines.
Officials Safety Training • Developed a comprehensive range of training modules to teach motorsport officials the elements how to safely and efficiently deliver their events • Can also incorporate ASN training for less developed organisations • A full list of available modules can be provided by the MKI.
Facilities Development • Experience in design and homologation of several world class motorsport facilities in UAE, including the Yas Marina Circuit, Dubai Autodrome and Al Ain Raceway. • Have the in-house knowledge to assist other nations with their own projects, • Currently working on several new karting facilities in the Middle East.
Young Driver Training • Young Driver Training programmes designed to improve the competencies of its participants. • Introductory Driver Training, offered in association with the YMC and DA Driving Schools, and, • Elite Athlete Training, offered in association with the Ulster Sports Academy in Northern Ireland. • Can assist ASNs with preparing a participant for the FIA Institute Young Driver Excellence Academy.
Research Opportunities • Working with our academic partners, the ATCUAE has previously conducted studies into: • Volunteer Management at the 2009 AD F1 Grand Prix, • The Economic and Media Impact of the 2011 AD Desert Challenge. • Currently conducting research into the hydration of motorsport marshals in high temperature climates, funded in part through the FIA Foundations MSDF

Educational Opportunities • Through our academic partners, can offer a range of different motorsport related degree programmes. Higher Colleges of Technology of the UAE starting a taught undergraduate degree in Sports Management. • University of Ulster are offering research based postgraduate degrees in motorsport, students able to achieve either an M.phil or PhD at the end of their course.
