What are some things we share about books we have read? • What is the book about • What is the author trying to tell me • What did I like about the book • What didn’t I like about the book • Would I recommend the book to someone • How does the book relate to me
How does the book relate to you… • Is it a book that you have read before • Is it something that has happened to you • Is it something that has happened to someone you know • Is it a movie you have seen
What is the Format of Our Response? • Paragraph 1 – Introduction: Includes the author, title, how you read the book (by yourself, it was read to you, etc.), and your opinion of the story • Paragraph 2 – Story summary: Give three or four sentences about the summary of the story
What is the Format of our Response? • Paragraph 3- Character Analysis: Describe a character from the story and tell how they behaved in the story (the character’s actions, feelings, etc.) • Paragraph 4- Relationship to You: Tell how the book relates to you ( another book, something that has happened to you or someone you know, or movie)
What is the Format of our Response? • Paragraph 5- Conclusion: Contains your recommendation of the book, restates your opinion of the book, and retells who wrote the book and the title.
