Welcome to Art One Thank you for taking this class. I hope you have fun, learn, and discover your talents.
EXPECTATIONS 1.Please be on time and work from bell to bell. 2. Have pride in your work. 3. Homework must be submitted on-time to get full credit. Late homework is always better than none at all.
Your work ethic determines everything. • We provide materials of excellent quality. They are expensive. Treat them with respect. Clean and store them properly. • 6. Sign your work on the back center • with pencil (not marker).
Manage your time. Working on • homework for another class is not • allowed. This is not a study hall! • 8. Treat others as yourself. • Be honest, thoughtful, and kind. • 9. Only bottled water is permitted. • 10. If you have any questions, ask me. • I am here to help you.
Grading Policy for Mr. Douglas’ Art Classes Grades will be based on in-class projects, homework assignments, quizzes, and class participation. There will be extra credit opportunities. In-class projects will be counted as double grades. Home assignments and quizzes will be counted as single grades. Class participation is determined by your work ethic and behavior. It will count as a double grade at the end of each marking period. All grades are averaged as they are entered in my grade book.
Grading Scale Homework assignments are usually given Monday to Monday. Critiques are private – feedback is provided in the comment box of Score Inspector in the Power School grade book. The stronger examples may be shared with the class afterwards. Assignments must be handed in on the first day of class of the new week. Late assignments receive reduced credit. The later it is, the lower the grade. Assignments not submitted at all will receive a “0”.
To access homework assignments, go to the homepage of my school website and click on “for ASSIGNMENTS click here”. Find the current due date by scrolling down. Read the objectives and click the “examples”link below the objectives. Reread as needed to really understand the assignment. If you have any questions, please email me at: hd@harrydouglas.com I don’t grade “talent”. The evaluation of your artwork will be based on meeting the specific objectives of my directions. A number grade is abstract and may seem vague. These descriptions may help to clarify what the number means:
