  3. Upcoming Eventsisusea.weebly.com • IEA-SP Fall Advisory Board – Sunday, September 22nd in Bloomington • The meeting will begin at 11:00am and conclude no later than 3:30 p.m. and include lunch. This event is for members who want to get more involved at the local or state level. This is also a great chance to experience what state level events are like. Here are some special reasons to attend: raffle entries for free IEA-SP fall conference registration, and everyone will receive a free t-shirt! More details are provided in the RSVP link below • Click here to RSVP • October 7 -- Member Meeting (7pm SCH 138) • October 12 -- ISU SEA & U of I Joint Conference at U of I • Join us at our local fall conference with U of I. The conference will be held at The Illini Union Building in Champaign, IL on Saturday, October 12th, 2013 from 9:30am - 2:45pm. There is a minor cost to attend that covers your food and some of the supplies needed. The cost for SEA members is $10 and the cost for non-members is $15. This fee includes lunch, 3 breakout sessions, a keynote speaker, and many raffles and giveaways. • Online Registration will begin soon. You get to choose your 3 breakout sessions!

You can also bring your receipt to the next meeting. • Official social date – Friday 20th from 2-4pm • Hangout on the Quad – Sunday, 29th 2-4pm. • Come for an hour • Capture the flag at 2pm and at 3pm • Frisbee, Bags, Football, and more!

  10. Rebecca Ruegger I am interested in the position of secretary because I have been involved in the IEA for three years and have had much executive board experience. I am a transfer student from Harper College and there I began as secretary, then moved up to vice president, and eventually was chapter president. I am very organized and detail-orientated and will make sure my notes fully reflect the meeting and I will help better the chapter in whatever is asked of me. I would love the opportunity to be your secretary this fall and make the chapter successful for all members.

  11. Erin Christ • I think it is very important to be involved when you want to do something as noble as being a teacher. This is one reason why I want to be secretary, besides being an awesome note taker. I feel like one becomes more involved and learns more being on the exec. Team than just being a member, and I want to learn anything and everything in order to be the best teacher I can be. I want to be on the board because I want to prove, not only to the group but to myself, that I can do this and contribute fantastic ideas to help make a difference.

  12. Chad Cleveland • I am very interested in this position because I would like to become more involved in the organization. I am already an active member and would like to be on the board to help promote SEA on a more professional level. I would also like to encourage members to become more active. I believe I am qualified for this position because I have a resident assistant position which has trained me to be a better leader and how to properly communicate and work with peers. In the past I have sat on high school executive boards as well as resident hall executive boards.

  13. Kacie Swanson I want to be an ISU SEA executive board member because I want to be more involved. I feel that bilingual education needs a bigger voice because of the growth of diverse students in classrooms. I feel that I am qualified for secretary because I am a good note taker, I am very organized, and it can help me to become more involved at ISU. I have experienced executive board duties through SABE, by updating our website and taking photos. I hope to join SEA’s executive board to provide new ideas and work together for a successful fall semester.

  14. Kara Kastenholz • I have been a member of the SEA since first semester of my Freshmen year. I believe I would make a good executive board because I truly put the SEA as one of my highest standards. I go to all meetings, participate, attend conferences and even go to advisory board meetings. I took the opportunity to attend the Building Blocks meeting this summer also even though I was the only non-executive board member there. Experience wise, I am currently on the executive board for the Leaders of Social Change trip and I take notes and keep my team on track.

  16. Kelly O’Ryan My name is Kelly O’Ryan and I would like to be the next president elect and, someday, president of ISU’s chapter of the Student Education Association. I am an elementary education major with endorsements in reading, social sciences, and language arts. As the current IEA/SEA Representative and Social Chair of SEA, I have had experience as part of the Executive Board. I have also attended conferences and Building Blocks, which have prepared me both to be a teacher and to lead our organization. I am organized ambitious, and passionate. Thank you for your consideration.
