AB540 9 • AB540 was a bill passed in California in 2001 • Allows undocumented students to pay in-state tuition at public universities • States with similar bills • Texas • New York • Utah • Illinois • Washington • Nebraska • New Mexico • Oklahoma • Kansas
AB540 Requirements 10 • AB540 does not apply for private university • Contact the specific university • Processed as international students • Requirements • Must attend a high school in California for 3 or more years • Must graduate from a California High School or attain an equivalent (GED) • Must file an affidavit, which states that you will apply for legalization as soon as you are eligible
