A brief account of the aims of our society "Freedom for Animals“:

"Freedom for Animals“ Belgrade, Serbia A brief account of the aims of our society "Freedom for Animals“: * to increase public awareness of the real nature of animals as creatures who feel pain, fear and have souls. * to inform the public of the situation in which we find animals, by way of the media, publishing periodicals, updating our internet site, lectures, leaflets, posters etc. * to achieve better legislation for animal protection. Our activities lead to the final liberation of animals from unnatural death, torture, exploitation…  Independently or in collaboration with other societies with similar orientation we carry out projects which lead to the realization of these aim. www.sloboda-za-zivotinje.org

2. Our society "Slobodazazivotinje" "Freedom for Animals" was founded in Belgrade on 25.4.2003, following a visit by Christian Sailer, the well known advocate of animal rights.Christian, a doctor of philosophy and law, and in fact the principle prosecutor of the International Court for Animal Rights, in Geneva was invited by professors of the Law Faculty in Belgrade to lecture to the Forum Romanum club on the subject:"Constitutional Rights for Animals".

3. Our main goals, actions, campaigns and activities are directed towards :* Promoting the ethical vegetarianism "Premeditated Murder. Don't be an Accomplice. Don't Eat Animals"

5. We appeared with these billboards at the largest music festival, in southeast Europe - EXIT with more then 150,000 visitors, which is held in the Petrovaradin Fortress in Novi Sad. A large number of young people visited our stand and reacted very positively to our promotion, posters and brochures - "8 Nutritional Lies" and "8 Hunting Lies". They also signed our petitions and applied for our Newsletter.

7. * Animal rights and welfare, and achieving the better legislation for animal protection through: • Contacting with our representatives in Government, Ministries, media etc. • Participating in radio and TV broadcasts, more than 20 up to now • Organizing and attending the conferences and other public manifestations.

9. * We educate on the subject of mass livestock production and climate changes * We are the member of IVU

10. * A campaign and protests against hunting, collecting signatures to petitions against hunting are among our activities • An anti-hunting protest coincided with the world hunting conference in Belgrade.

30. *Children's art workshop "Look me in my eyes, Ihave a soul, too" • Children painted animal themes in acompetition organized during "Children's Week".

31. * We have put pressure on Serbian and Croatian politicians to solve the problem with around 70 Croatian Lipizzaners, living for 17 years in Serbia after the war, starving on one private farm

32. Now they have been returned to Lipik and their original stable.

33. * With some other people and organizations (Four paws – VierPfoten) we organized relocation of the last three dancing bears to bear park “Belitsa” in Bulgaria

35. * We saved one sport horse from the slaughter house One of our famous singers has helped us.

36. * Although we do not have our own shelter for animals, we rescued some orphaned and injured wild animals, too – alone, or in cooperation with others A lost griffon vulture

Recently we have been concentrating on the legal rights of animals which led to our collaboration with the association "Lawyers for Democracy", and to organisation of the "Centre for the advancement and protection of animals' legal rights", whose representative Dr, Stephen Lilic is here with us today.

49. * What are our main problems? • Well ... we are volunteers, without even our own office or regular donations. Everything we do is with our great enthusiasm, our phones and computers, from our homes, with insufficient financial means.
