  2. Mission • The Humane Society strives to prevent cruelty to animals and promote responsible pet ownership.

  3. Purpose • Nonprofit organization established in 1938 • Strives to put itself out of business • 7,000 animals annually • Includes dogs, cats, birds, ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, etc…

  4. Cruelty Investigations • Nearly 700 cases yearly • Two full-time cruelty officers • Almost all cases are reported by caring citizens

  5. Pet Adoptions • Must fill out and sign a contract • Pay a fee that includes spay/neutering, license, and a small adoption donation • State law requires all adopted animals be spayed/neutered

  6. In The News • Took in 3,724 cats and kittens last year • Estimated 300 presently in shelter • Zero cages for incoming cats

  7. You Can Help • Volunteers are welcomed • Donations of food, litter, newspaper, and money are appreciated
