Alcohol, Tobacco & Other Drug Use Implications for Faribault Youth
Rice County Chemical Health Coalition • Working to reduce youth alcohol, tobacco and other drug (ATOD) use • Established in 2004 and working with partners including healthcare providers, law enforcement, parents, media, schools and others. • Secured a Drug Free Communities grant in Faribault to strengthen and expand our work.
Why do we have a Coalition? • Research shows that multiple strategies employed in multiple sectors of the community result in effective prevention. • Multiple strategies for ATOD prevention require multiple partners…..no one can do it all! • The Coalition has multiple partners representing multiple sectors. • We can always use more!
Problem Statement Youth in Faribault are harmed by their use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.
