Photoionization of Singly Ionized Atomic and Molecular Nitrogen. Mohammad M Alshorman ISMO, CNRS & Univ. Paris-Sud 11 (Directed by: Jean Marc Bizau) JOURNEES SCIENTIFIQUES DE L’EDOM 2012
Outline • Interests. • Merged-beam experiment: N+ • Simulation: • simulation of ions trajectories in MAIA setup to improve the intensity of the ion beam and overlap between the photon and ion. • Preliminary results of N2+. • Future Work.
Interests • Fundamental: Nice tool to study electron correlation effects. • Plasmas diagnostics and modeling: Spectroscopic information: ionization thresholds, excitation energies Interpretation of the observations of the X-ray observatories (Chandra, XMM Newton). • Dynamical information: Absolute PI cross sections, oscillator strengths. • Theoretical interest: • The majority of this experimental data has been benchmarked with state-of-the-art theoretical methods as R-matrix and MCDF (Multi-Configurational Dirac–Fork calculations) calculations.
Merged-Beam Set-Up (MAIA) Endstation on SOLEIL Undulator PLEIADESBeamline ECRIS: electron cyclotron ion source, E: einzel lens, St: set of horizontal and vertical steerers, S: collimating slits, FC: Faraday cup, ED: electrostatic deflector, IR: interaction region, EQ: electrostatic quadrupole, SR: synchrotron radiation, PD: photodiode.
Results The distribution for 1s22s22p23P,1D,1S and 1s22s2p35So are 0.54, 0.11, 0.03, 0.32 respectively.
Future work. • We will continue with k-shell photoionization for N2+ and N3+ soon, at the end of this month. • We will extend our work with isonuclear sequence for O+ions. • -We will try molecular Nitrogen with a new modified trap. • I will continue the simulation until the interaction region.
