All those standing are one team and all sitting are one team. • Transitioning: Cones are your friend! • Find Partners: Back to back, new partner high 5, same color shirt. • Line - Up Ideas: Number of brothers and sisters, type of pet, favorite fruit and/or vegetable, bean bags for spatial awareness. • Color associations

  6. TEACHING/MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES • If direction time exceeds 30 seconds; sit them down! • Learn Students names! - #1 Management tool! • “Don’t” is meaningless word • Mix up verbal with non-verbal praise • Inclusion Speech - “we” and “our” • Do not tolerate put downs of others! • 80% of what students learn in P.E is based on what they see • Avoid sarcasm – hard to interpret • Reinforcement of one has ripple affect on many • They will want it if you own it! Buy in!

  7. Finding and Checking Heart Rate • Use third and fourth fingers • Can use the wrist or neck • Count for the entire 60 seconds/age of kids • Resting Heart Rate • Take after sitting w/o activity for about 10 minutes (between 60-90) • Active Heart Rate • Take immediately after activity • Target Heart Rate • 220 – age = Target Heart Rate • When just starting exercise 60 - 80%
