Northern Healthy Foods Initiative: Promoting Community Food Self-Sufficiency and Business Development

The Northern Healthy Foods Initiative, founded by Ministers of Healthy Living, MAFRI, and Northern Affairs, focuses on building local food self-sufficiency, conducting milk price reviews, and fostering northern food business development. Since its inception in 2004, the initiative has prioritized community grants for projects related to nutrition awareness, local food production, and food system change. Partnerships with regional organizations and community-driven projects aim to lower food prices, support local agriculture, and promote healthy living practices in northern communities.
