The RisksofUnhealthyFood • Itisbettertoavoid the excessiveconsumptionoffriedfoodbecausecookedfatisnothealthy. • Onemustalsoavoidproductswith a lotofsugarasit can overwork the liver, cause obesityand toothdecay. • An excessiveamountofalcoholisharmfulto the liver, while the excessiveconsumptionofsugary and gassydrinks can bringaboutdiabetes.
Surveyaboutbreaktime at school During the school year, our class, together with the technology teacher, have carried out a teaching unit on nutrition education which allowed us to understand how we should divide the calories in the meals of the day. However it’s difficult to put into practice what we learned and at school in the breaktime there are a lot of temptations and we students are out of our parents’ control. Wedid a surveyamong the studentsofourschool in ordertodeterminewhatstudentshave in the breaktime. Oursurveyshowedthat on 220 pupils 63% ofpupilsbring a snack from home 37% ofpupilsbuyit at the baker’s or fromvendingmachines at school 12% ofpupilsdoesn’t have a snack Regardingfoodpreferences: 27% choosesandwiches, or pizza or flatbread, crackers 47% sweetsnacks , fresh or prepackedsnacks 17% crisps and saltysnacks 9% fruit, vegetables, yoghurt
Do youbuyyour snack at the baker’s or from the vending machine at school? Bakery Vendingmachine
As we don’t have lunch at schoolweorganized a healthy snack in the breaktime. Everyonebroughtsomethingtoeatavoidinganykindof junk food. Fruit: kiwis, straberries, apples, bananas, …. Vegetables: carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, fennels, faves, courgettes…….. Rice crackers, ham and cheesesandwiches, apricot pie, bread and berries jam and honey, yoghurt, orangejuice and water
Welikedthisexperienceverymuch. Fromthen on we’lltrytoimproveourfoodhabits and induce ourpeersto reduce junk food
Duringthe week ofhealthyfood…. Studentsdeveloped the idea to create a poster, workingcloselywith the technologyteacher. The poster wasconcernedwithdetailinghealthyfoodaswellashighlightingfoodthatweshouldavoid. The studentsattemptedto involve theirfamiles in encouragingthemtoeathealthyfood. At the end of the week theycomparedtheirexperiences.
