Pick up the blank diagram from the front • Get red, blue, yellow, green, & a 5th color of your choice colored pencils or markers & a black pen
Light strikes the chloroplast and hits the chlorophyll in the thylakoid • Color the starburst yellow & label it as the sun • Label the thylakoid & grana and color it dark green on the picture and in the boxes
SUN GRANA THYLAKOID
Water enters the chloroplast • Color the box blue & label it as water
Oxygen is given off (leaves the chloroplast) • Color the box red and label it oxygen • Write (by-product) underneath the box
NADPH & ATP are made • Fill in the diagonal box below the arrow pointing toward the circle with NADPH & ATP • Color it yellow
Calvin Cycle • Label the inside of the circle the Calvin Cycle • Draw arrows around the circle (as shown on the board) • Color it a 5th color of your choice
Carbon dioxide enters the stroma • First, label the stroma (the empty space inside the chloroplast) and color the box and the empty space light green • Color the carbon dioxide box green and label it carbon dioxide
CARBON DIOXIDE STROMA
Glucose is made and exits chloroplast • Color the box red and label it glucose • Put a big star by the box! • This is the whole purpose of photosynthesis
GLUCOSE C6H12O6
NADP+ and ADP exit the Calvin Cycle and enter the thylakoid • Fill in the diagonal box leading back to the thylakoid with NADP+ & ADP • Color it yellow
Types of Reactions • Label the large left box the light-dependent reaction and the large right box the light-independent reaction
LIGHT-DEPENDENT LIGHT - INDEPENDENT
