CLMRG is a long-standing, all-volunteer mountain rescue group in California, providing search and rescue services at no cost. The organization offers wilderness safety education, summer mountaineering courses, and mountaineering safety courses to prepare individuals for outdoor adventures.

CLMRG The Organization • Formed at the request of the Inyo Co. Sheriff and NOTS because China Lake had many experienced mountaineers - Formalized organization in 1958 - Celebrated our 55th Anniversary in 2013 • One of the oldest Mountain Rescue Teams in California - Member of the California Region Mountain Rescue Association - Member of the National Mountain Rescue Association • Specialize in high altitude search & rescue on technical rock in any weather • All responses coordinated w/ the Kern County Sheriff's Dept
CLMRG What We Do • Search and Rescue of lost or injured persons, in any season, in the mountains and desert or in any type of wilderness terrain Types of Operations: SEARCH: This is an operation involving one or more missing persons. We are broken into search teams and given field assignments to search for the missing persons. RESCUE: A rescue involves a person who is stranded or injured and needs technical mountaineering help to return to safety. RECOVERY: This involves recovering the remains of deceased victims. This type of operation may begin as a SEARCH or RESCUE.

CLMRG Summer Mountaineering Course 7 weeks in June - July (Tues/Wed) Topics covered: - Conditioning / Wilderness Travel - Packs & Equipment - Clothing - Mountain Maladies - Camping & Bivies - Rock Climbing Techniques - Belaying / Rappelling - Navigation - Basic Safety System - Snow Travel & Climbing - Food & Stoves - Leave No Trace & Access - Mountain Weather - Safety & Leadership - Alpine Rescue - Knots - Day and Overnight Mountain Trips
CLMRG The Summer Class • Basic Mountaineering & Mountaineering Safety Course - Starts Tuesday, June 14, 2016 - Ends Wednesday July 27, 2016 • Seven weeks of lectures and practical experience (no class week of July 4th) - Lecture: Tuesdays, 7:00 – 8:30 PM at the Kerr McGee Center - Practice: Wednesdays, 5:00 PM until dark, plus a weekend day hike and a weekend overnight hike $35.00 Class Fee plus have access to the textbook “Mountaineering: Freedom of the Hills”-- 8th Edition • Class is limited to 40 students; first come-first served. • REGISTER EARLY – starting May 2016
