  3. APhA Federal Pharmacy Initiative Background • APhA contacted in 1997 for assistance • Board of Trustees formed Federal Pharmacist Advisory Committee in 1999 • New working relationship between APhA and federal community announced in 2000

  4. APhA Federal Pharmacy Initiative Goals: • Increase support for Federal pharmacists • Support networking between Federal and private sector pharmacists • Increase participation of Federal pharmacists in APhA programs • Increase the number of Federal pharmacist members

Accomplishments • Reduced dues ($105/yr) includes Active Duty, Reserve, and Retired • Established Federal Pharmacist Advisory Committee • Created Annual Federal Pharmacy Forum • Increased House of Delegates representation • Established the APhA Distinguished Federal Pharmacist Award • Monthly e-Newsletter

APhA - Federal Partnership • Federal Pharmacists elected to leadership positions • Government affairs staff lobbied for special pay increase and loan repayment • Access to policy and professional influencers • Increased visibility in APhA publications • APhA presence at CFPS and AMSUS • Delivery of APhA Education Training Programs • Annual Veterans Day Recognition • Incentive Awards Grant Program
