  2. I. The NEW DEAL • Promises Americans a “NEW DEAL” for the forgotten man! • “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” • Becomes president during the worst crisis since the Civil War • The New Deal gets America moving!

  3. II. “Alphabet Soup” • During the first 100 days of Roosevelt’s Presidency, FDR and Congress pass many new laws designed to fight the Great Depression. • FDR begins a MASSIVEgovernment intervention in the lives of ordinary Americans.

  4. Relief: Help for those who have lost everything. • Recovery: Getting the economy working again! • Reform: Make changes to ensure that nothing like the depression can happen again!
