  2. What’s the big deal?? • Look at your hands • Do they look clean?? • Even if they look clean…they aren’t! • Guess what is living on your hands right now?? • GERMS!!

  3. Germs?? • Germs live everywhere - on your skin, hair, teeth, clothes, toys, dogs, cats and home! • There are GOOD germs and there are BAD germs. • BAD GERMS make you sick, cough, sneeze, have diarrhea and vomit! • Bad germs can spread to your family and friends!

  4. CRAZY GERM NAMES • Streptococci….causes strep throat • Haemophilus…causes pink eye • Shigella….causes diarrhea • EEEEWWWWW

  5. Guess how you get rid of those Germs?? • WASH YOUR HANDS!!! • Here’s how you do it 1. Wet your hands with water. 2. Put soap on your hands. 3. Rub hand together while counting slowly to ten. 4. Make sure you get the back of your hands, wrists, fingers and your fingernails. 5. Wet hands with water to take off the soap. 6. Dry with a towel or dryer.

  6. When is a good time to wash your hands?? • BEFORE you eat • AFTER using… • The toilet • Toys • Telephone • Being outside • When else???

  7. Spread the word, not the Germs! • Washing your hands helps keep you healthy! • Wash and keep your hands away from your eyes, nose & mouth!
