Assignment – Collect data about the relationship between an angle in a triangle and the lengths of sides (more specifically, given angles A, B, and C in a triangle and opposite sides of the triangle form a conjecture about the measure of angle C and the relative sizes of A^2 + B^2 and C^2.) This student is on an IEP and is ESL. He has considerable difficulties with math, but has done this quite well,

  3. The TestThis shows Parker did quite well on all parts, but didn’t gather enough data for a conjecture about obtuse angles. See next page.

  4. Parker’s Test (cont.)His self-evaluation is dead-on.

  5. Proving ConjecturesStudents were introduced to the reasoning needed for proving conjectures. Granted, some steps (or reasons for steps) were passed over, but the students got a feel for deducing a principle.
