DI Governance Restructuring • Focus. • Greater autonomy for “Big 5” conferences (ACC, Big10, PAC12, BIG12 , SEC). • Student-athlete issues (e.g., cost of attendance; support during and after enrollment; agents). • Ability of non-Big 5 conferences to adopt same legislation. • Other issues (e.g., interpretations, enforcement, waivers). • Process. • August 2014 – adoption by Division I Board. • October 2014 – autonomy group develop proposed legislation. • 2015 Convention – membership vote on legislation. • Impact on Division III. 4
Convention Legislation • Fifteen Proposals: • Six membership proposals. • Includes one co-sponsored by Presidents Council. • Nine governance sponsored. • IPOPL released by August 15th. • SPOPL released by September 23rd. • Official Notice – November 15. • Convention vote – January 2015. 5

Championship Updates Women’s Basketball Joint Championship • 2016 – Approved in concept for 35th anniversary celebration (Indianapolis). • Comparable experience with men’s 75th anniversary celebration (2013) and opportunity for national exposure. • Anticipated game day: April 4, 2016 (preliminary round format to be determined). • Ongoing discussion to determine logistics, including competition venue, schedule and cost. 7
Championship Updates In-Region Competition • Changes for 2014-15. • Years 1 and 2 provisional/reclassifying institutions CAN count as an in-region opponent in the calculation (assuming at least one of the in-region definitions is met). • For spring NCAA championships, competition against out-of-region opponents over one official vacation period (e.g., spring break) may be exempted from the calculation. 8

Financial Aid Resource • Developed by the NCAA Division III Financial Aid Committee. • Intended to facilitate communication across all campus constituencies (e.g., director of athletics, director of financial aid, development office, admissions office and athletics compliance). • Encourage regularly scheduled conversations among these campus constituents to ensure compliance with NCAA Division III Bylaw 15. 17
