  2. Meet Jacob Peterson Jacob is going to Escape • Jacob lives in Georgia and he works on a cotton farm. He was born a slave and is now fifteen years old. He has a very rich owner but he won’t buy Jacob good food to eat. His owner’s name is Robert Peterson.

  3. Escaping • Jacob Peterson is deciding to escape at night. Do you chose to hide in the trees? Do you chose to hide in the bushes?

  4. Morning • Jacob is all worked up about the thought that his owner might be coming after him with fierce dogs. Jacob forgets all about it and moves on to Raleigh.

  5. Meeting Fredrick Douglass • You meet Fredrick in a safe house. • He tells you that the next Underground Railroad house is over the river. Learn more about Fredrick Douglass

  6. Fredrick Douglass’s house • Fredrick was born in February of 1818. • He owned a house on the Underground Railroad. • Harriet Tubman was one of the people who passed through his house.

  7. Oh, No! • Do you decide to hide in barn? • Do you decide to go in secret basement?

  8. Raleigh • When Jacob stepped in the city of Raleigh he knew right away that he was in Virginia. He also still knew his owner was searching for him.

  9. Dawn He saw Harriet Tubman on the other side of the river. She didn’t see him but he saw an underground railroad house 200 yards away. Then Harriet turns around and sees you. Learn about Harriet Tubman

  10. Harriet Tubman • Harriet helped hundreds of slaves pass through the Underground Railroad to freedom. • Harriet's nickname is Minty. • Harriet was born in 1820. • Harriet died March 10, 1913 in Auburn N.Y.

  12. Philadelphia • Jacob is free! Well not exactly, but all he has to do is stay away from his owner, or cross the border of Canada. You are now free!!!!!!

  19. You are right  • You climb in the tallest tree. Bloodhounds sniff around the tree but do not smell you. back
