Writing quick responses December 1, 2010
Directions • For each foundational prompt you will have 5 minutes to write at least a one paragraph response! • The goal is to help you gain experience in timed writing and pacing yourself, don’t get frustrated this is PRACTICE for our 15 week assessment.
Prompt #1 • What job would you never want to have, regardless of how much money it paid?
Prompt #2 • What does it mean to act “selfishly”?
Prompt # 3 • Given the ability or power, what single problem would you eliminate from childhood?
Prompt #4 • What is your definition of the “good life”?
Share! • Get in small groups (no more than 4) • Review your writings • Share your responses • Create a mini list of the following things • What was the most difficult prompt? Why? • Did you hit any “roadblocks”? If so where? • Was there any additional stress because you were being timed? • What techniques did you use to help you finish your responses?
Debrief Activity • Create a writing prompt for our next bell ringer. Make sure that it can be answered in a paragraph. Think about your experiences with the prompts today, try to make a prompt that will work for all students and is easy to understand! • Homework: Tutorial Questions for tomorrow!!
