BEFORE SUMMER RETREATS • Meet 3-4 times over the summer on campus • A few Ice-Breakers • A few activities • Leadership skills training • Planning • Problems • Could never get them all there at the same time • Constant interruptions • Sport practice, Dr. appointments, etc. • Same venue

WHAT OUR SUMMER RETREAT LOOKS LIKE • 3 Fun filled days/2 nights • Near a beach with camp fire pits • Hotel Conference Room/ Breakfast • Planning Sessions • Leadership Development • Beach Activities • Tons of opportunities to learn about each other & bond as a family

WORKSHOP HAVES: MUST • ICE BREAKERS • ACTIVITIES • TEAM BUILDING • LEADERSHIP SKILL DEVELOPMENT • Always allow enough time for discussion • CREATE YOUR MISSION STATEMENT • Set Group Goals • BRAINSTORM ACTIVITIES • For Big Events like: • Homecoming • Back to School Week • Dances • Improvements/Changes
MISSION STATEMENT • Have students brainstorm their purpose • 1 word or small phrases • Narrow down to 5-6 most important • Give them a sample Mission Statement • In small groups, write a mission statement that covers those voted most important • Write on butcher paper • Each group presents • Vote • Spend time improving the final Mission Statement so that EVERYONE agrees.
