  8. Each table shows how words that END in a particular set of characters (and sound) are the same in French.

  13. The letters within the French Alphabet are the same as they are in the English one.The difference lies in the pronunciation. what about all those characters with funny lines on... Well these are called Accents and this is one of the most notable differences between written English and French. L'ALPHABET

  14. LES ACCENTS: • É The aigu accent • È The grave accent • Ê The circumflex accent

  15. From the earlier lesson you should now be able to see that some words are the same! However in French you must pronounce (say!) them differently. In French if the last letter of a word is an E, it is not pronounced unless it has an accent on it. Notice the last E in Pirate is silent, but you can hear the T! The French alphabet and those 26 (and a few) sounds!
