John Gibson Paton’s Time To Go • Was born in Scotland on May 24, 1824 • Was a city missionary from 1847-1857 • Sailed to the New Hebrides Islands on April 16, 1858 with his wife • Was driven away by the natives after his wife and their little boy died of fever • Brought 7 missionaries and his second new wife to the new Hebrides. • Took up mission work on the island of Aniwa in 1866 • Printed the New Testament in the Aniwan language in 1897 • Had missionaries on 25 of 30 islands • Died on January 28, 1907
